I have more than eight years of experience teaching Spanish
at two outstanding secondary schools in London.

I graduated with the CELTA Certificate in teaching English as a foreign language by Cambridge Assessment at West Thames College in London, the UK.

"Montse had an excellent working relationship with both trainers and her teaching colleagues. She was a very good team member and maintained a consistently professional and hardworking attitude to her teaching. She built a very good rapport with the students because of her lively and engaging manner. I expect with only some initial support she should become an accomplished teacher. I think Montse would be a very valuable addition to any English language teaching staffroom"

During my CELTA I have enjoyed teaching face-to-face and online English grammar. My learners were lovely and I have seen a lot of enthusiasm for learning a new language.
During the CELTA course, I have taught English as a Foreign language to adults at beginner and Intermediate levels with ESL students in groups of up to 15 people. I have learned very specifically how to teach each one of the areas of English grammar and language. I have also learned quite a lot from the constructive feedback of my tutors and the positive criticism of my peers. I have experimented with new strategies that I have applied in the classroom.

My tutors have commented on my great knowledge of English grammar and my capacity for teaching big groups of students. I am very creative using the whiteboard and I like to use different colors to teach grammar. I have had success clarifying grammar rules using formulas and patterns that apply to different examples. I know it is very important to not assume that students know concepts; I use questioning techniques to get feedback from my learners to see how they are doing. I have learned different questioning techniques to check students’ understanding of the task. I build the stages of the lesson at an appropriate pace; thus, I have a good overview and I know when students are ready to move on to the next activity or when they need more practice. My colleagues and tutor have mentioned my great lead-in during the lessons and my capacity to keep the student's attention on the task. I have used original activities for teaching the new and blocking vocabulary such as visual cards. I have shown the meaning of the words using concept questions, collocations, showing linking words, families of words, examples, showing where the stress of the word is and the Ipa transcription for the pronunciation and drilling.
I have produced presentations that students thoroughly enjoyed, with very colorful and appealing slides and exercises. My peers described me as a very confident and energetic teacher who is strongly focused on students' aims. I have developed a great rapport with my students and shared useful tips with them on improving their English while traveling to work or in their free time at home. I have studied and practiced strategies to conduct and stage the listening, speaking, and reading tasks, mainly from Jim Scrivener, one of the most reputable teachers and trainers in the field of ELT (English Language Teaching). I continue perfecting my teaching skills and I attend interesting online webinars to understand the problems that learners face when learning English as a foreign language.
